*Pool tables and plants you say, Dylan?*
Yes, pool tables and plants.
So what’s been going on here? Well, let us just show you.
First off, we want to welcome back Jared (otherwise known as, “Hey, intern!” or “More coffee, please.”) . You might recognize him. He interned here in the winter and has since graduated college! Jared is back finishing up his internship and we are glad to have him back in the Marketing Room.
Here we have Brian (Operations Manager) and Joe (Lead Technician). They have been hooking up a new pod in the DC and have been kicking butt. Keep up the work, boys!
And how do they stay sane during all those hours of work? Bumpin’ tunes!

TurnKey Internet, Inc. Begins Data Center Expansion in New York’s Tech Valley no comments
LATHAM, NEW YORK (July 31, 2013) – Sustainable IT solutions provider TurnKey Internet, Inc. announced today the expansion of their Latham, New York data center. Just 15 months after opening their flagship data center, TurnKey Internet will be installing their next phase of additional equipment, floor space and staffing to further develop their high-tech, cloud-based infrastructure. This comes in part from their funding received from New York’s energy development fund – NYSERDA.
“Because of the distinctive design within our green and sustainable data center- located in the heart of New York’s Tech Valley- we have seen exponential growth and non-stop demand for the expansion within our facility and with our cloud-based services,” said CEO, Adam Wills. “We’re excited to announce that we are ahead of schedule with our expansion and that this will allow us to increase our facility’s total capacity by 50 percent.”
Using equipment like their cold-containment pods, which uses the highly energy-efficient SmartAisle™ technology, TurnKey Internet has proved to be a leader in green-IT. In the past year, they teamed up with Energy Star and became one of two Energy Star certified data centers in the state of New York. TurnKey Internet was also approved to be a part of the ReCharge New York program in March 2013. The program, created by New York’s Governor Cuomo, was set in place to help companies receive clean, hydroelectric energy. With the use of their green-technology, their solar-panel roof system, and the hydroelectric power, TurnKey Internet’s data center uses 100% renewable energy.

Christmas in July no comments
We are STILL at it! Our tech team has been working everyday around the clock to get our data center- phase two- complete. With the delivery of a brand new pod, it sometimes feels like an IT Christmas around here. In fact, we feel like little kids when a new shipment arrives and we get to unload it… it’s like unwrapping new toys. Then we get to play with the toys, put everything together, show our friends and hey! We didn’t forget the cookies!

A peek inside!
No one was hurt during this… we think.
Beautiful day at TurnKey!

Howdie do TurnKey lovers,
How long has it been? Feels like it’s been ages due to so many new and exciting things happening here at Turnkey Internet! Do you remember when I wrote you the post about progress? The main take away from the article was that progress is progress. Big or small, as long as you’re progressing forward, you will eventually reach your goals.
Well, this has been a very progressive few weeks here at Turnkey Internet. So much so, that every time I walk into the data center, I get a bit of a shocked or surprised look. Why you may ask? Well, we’ve begun receiving parts in for Pod 2. I’m sure you’ve heard about it in earlier posts, but this dream is getting closer to becoming a reality. I mean, it wasn’t too long ago that I remember putting up walls in our data center. I helped to program the switches for each core while watching our senior data center engineer wire all of the racks together. It sometimes feels that it was just last week, but then I think back on all of the progress we’ve made since then. Acquiring Kcnet and bringing on new staff. However, none of this even comes close to the feeling I receive when I walk into our data center and see the foundation of Pod 2 beginning to spring to life. It’s a very exciting, stressful and rewarding time around TurnKey right now. So much hard work from so many people is helping to make this dream of being the best damn data center in the Northeast a reality!
I just feel very fortunate and bless to work here at TurnKey Internet. Sure, there are times that I just want to scream at the top of my lungs (which I do) due to working on a bug/program/technical support matter for hours with very little progress, but once you achieve that goal, it’s very rewarding. It’s one of the best feelings in the world. Now to see that on a much larger scale with new parts being delivered for Pod 2 and vine videos being made on Pod 2, is just very satisfying. I can’t wait until all the parts get here and Pod 2 is fully online.
Inching one Pod closer to getting our data center maxed out with Pods full of servers.
Well, I just wanted to share that with you guys. To share the joy and excitement that I have for this wonderful company!
Until next time.

Alan’s Cloud Tip of the Month – June 2013 no comments
Why move to the cloud? Here is June’s cloud tip.
Let us do the work…
When we say that by putting everything on the cloud can reduce your worry of keeping a track of hardware and software devices, we probably want to make your existing physical world into a virtual one. With managed cloud services you don’t have to bother about what’s going on in your in-house IT premises. Let your cloud manager do the burdensome work and help you get rid of all the expensive hardware and software that cost you almost an arm or a leg.

Why move to the cloud? Here is May’s cloud tip.
Businesses are more agile in the cloud…
Agility in business operations is made possible through the use of effective and efficient tools. These tools ultimately help make a business or work environment strong. Cloud technology is built on certain business strategies. For example, understanding service-level agreements (SLA’s) and developing various strategies to better understand the business as a whole. The steps of these strategies can then be analyzed—as well as improvised—in order to keep the business running smoothly, and this is all made easier with cloud technology.

TurnKey Internet reaches zero carbon footprint and 100% renewable power resources no comments
Remember when I told you that April is Earth Month at TurnKey Internet? Well, I’m back with some very exciting Earth Month news. Two different pieces of Earth Month news, actually–both green; both awesome.
First of all, we are now part of NYS Gov. Cuomo’s ReCharge New York program. Do you know what this means? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?! This means that TurnKey Internet is now powered by 100% renewable resources! Being awarded this system means a lot to us, and it should mean a lot to you too, because being nice to the Earth should mean a lot to everybody. This hydroelectric power system draws energy directly from Niagara Falls, and extends the portion of our power that we were already drawing from renewable sources to a full 100%.
We were selected for the ReCharge New York installation in recognition of the jobs we are creating in New York State as TurnKey Internet expands. Here’s a fun fact: We have more than doubled our staff in the past two years. Isn’t that crazy? Crazy in the best way possible, of course.
Do you know what else this ReCharge New York system means for us? I told you there were two pieces of Earth Month news, didn’t I? Get ready, I saved the best for last… If you haven’t yet heard, or are impartial to reading titles and/or press releases, our Latham, NY data center now has a zero carbon footprint! This accomplishment is all but unheard of in our industry, so we’re more than a little proud and excited. We feel, and hope you agree, that this accomplishment really sets us apart from the other guys.
If you’re interested in a little more light reading, you can find the press release in our Company News section.
Pssst… Between you and me, we are running an OUTRAGEOUS sale right now. If you’re interested–and I would recommend being interested–jump on Live Sales Chat. Our Sales Department will tell you what’s up. *cough–HUGE DISCOUNT–cough* …excuse me.

Alan’s Cloud Tip of the Month — April 2013 no comments
Why move to the cloud? Here is April’s cloud tip:
A disaster recovery plan helps to restore data quickly…
For your cloud network to be as successful as it can be, a pre-configured disaster recovery plan is must. Cloud disaster recovery plans work automatically, at the time your server or data crashes. This helps in restoring at the earliest time possible. Incorporating such back-up and recovery applications makes the cloud an efficient platform for competitively managing IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.

Alan’s Cloud Tip of the Month – March 2013 no comments
Why move to the cloud? Here is March’s quick cloud tip:
Cloud technology optimizes existing resources…
Suppose your company is facing hard times in managing hardware and software. Let’s say your servers are running extremely low on space, and there is not enough room left for any new data to be stored. To overcome such a situation, cloud services can be employed. In turn, existing servers get a rest from the over-loaded traffic, and the work environment of the company becomes more synchronized.
Moving to the cloud optimizes your resources, but with the help of managed cloud services, businesses are able to focus time and attention on other business-related activities.

Swing by our social sites, play a game, get a t-shirt… win $100… 16 comments
Big news, everyone! Starting Monday, February 25th, 2013–also known as next Monday–we will be holding a contest on our social sites!
After the panic that both Hurricane Sandy and Winter Storm Nemo brought about, it has become clear to us that far too many people are uninformed about the importance of being prepared. Back up your data, guys! Prepare for disaster! It’s so, so imperative in running a business successfully, and ensuring its continuity. You wouldn’t drive a car without insurance, would you? Maybe you would, how would I know? But if you do, cut it out.
With that being said, we decided to take action. Introducing: The Disaster Recovery Trivia Challenge!
HOW TO PLAY:
– Every Monday morning, stop by our Facebook and/or Twitter page(s). There, among the piles of awesomeness, you’ll find a fact about disaster recovery, or businesses’ lack thereof.
– Read the fact, and decide if you think it’s “True” or “False”.
– Once you’ve made up your mind, tell us what you think! You can submit your guess on Facebook in the comment section of the fact post, or tweet it to us on Twitter. Luckily, both “True” AND “False” are 140 characters or less—for all you little blue birdies out there. Phew!
Casting your guess (when and IF—that’s a big “if”, see?—you “like” us on Facebook or “follow” us on Twitter…or both, if you just really like hanging out with us) automatically earns you an entry to win— DRUM-ROLL, PLEASE…
Oooooohhh…
Aaaaaaahhh…
Wooooowww…
—A free shirt! As a proud owner of one of these babies and a lover of all items acquired through winning giveaways, I can confidently tell you that you shouldn’t sit this one out.
At the end of every week, also known as Friday, we will not only be revealing the answer, but choosing a winner at random. Did you see I said “every week”? That means that with every new fact that we present, comes another opportunity for you to win. So, if you play and aren’t selected, bet your bottom dollar that the sun will come out next week.
We have 10 disaster recovery facts to talk to you about, so that means there are 10 chances to win. That also means that there will be 10 winners of TurnKey finery when all is said and done. However, we want to have a grand-prize winner, because, well… why not? At the end of this 10-week period, when we’re done making it rain T-shirts on you all, we will draw one grand-prize winner from the pool of weekly winners. That one, final, lucky winner will receive $100! Don’t spend it all in one place! Unless you’re spending it at TurnKey Internet, that is.
So what do you think? Will you play along? At the very least, check in on Fridays for some valuable information that just might end up saving you.
* Recognize this image, anyone? This T-shirt is the answer to this week’s “Guess that photo” puzzle! For those of you who haven’t heard yet, “Guess that Photo” is another game we play on our social sites! Tune in every week for a new picture, and see if you can guess what it is.
