Less than six months after announcing the opening of their new California datacenter, TurnKey Internet’s latest expansion to its flagship New York Datacenter continues to strengthen the company’s enterprise-class cloud-based infrastructure, which currently provides solutions to clients in over 150 countries. The Datacenter expansion builds on TurnKey Internet’s existing New York Datacenter by offering geographically specific and redundant, high-speed Cloud services from both their East Coast and new West Coast Facility.

The West Coast Datacenter, located in Los Angeles, California, offers multiple transit backbone providers with fiber network redundancy as well as physical security features such as Biometric hand scanners, IP cameras, 24/7 monitoring and manned building security. The facility also features multiple Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Units, on-site Generator Protected Power, and advanced Fire Suppression and Detection systems.

Just 15 months after opening their flagship data center, TurnKey Internet will be installing their next phase of additional equipment, floor space and staffing to further develop their high-tech, cloud-based infrastructure. This comes in part from their funding received from New York’s energy development fund – NYSERDA.

“Because of the distinctive design within our green and sustainable data center- located in the heart of New York’s Tech Valley- we have seen exponential growth and non-stop demand for the expansion within our facility and with our cloud-based services,” said CEO, Adam Wills. “We’re excited to announce that we are ahead of schedule with our expansion and that this will allow us to increase our facility’s total capacity by 50 percent.”

Using equipment like their cold-containment pods, which uses the highly energy-efficient SmartAisle™ technology, TurnKey Internet has proved to be a leader in green-IT. In the past year, they teamed up with Energy Star and became one of two Energy Star certified data centers in the state of New York. TurnKey Internet was also approved to be a part of the ReCharge New York program in March 2013. We are all completely moved into our amazing new data center and we couldn’t be happier! It’s incredible how productive a person can be in such a lovely environment. Don’t get me wrong, our old office was lovely too, but the big open space, great windows and comfy offices in this new building are so inviting. It almost makes a person want to live here! It’s also been wonderful to be in the middle of town. It’s easy to walk to shops and restaurants– it feels like the perfect place to really integrate ourselves into the local business community! We’re already regulars at the Chamber of Commerce and other local business groups, but there is something to be said for being right at the heart of the action.

Finishing our move into our new home has been the perfect cap on our year, and we’re all in very high spirits going into 2012. We managed the transition without any service issues and all our hardware is humming along, backed up by our new generator. The neighborhood has been welcoming and understanding of the many vehicles coming in and out each day as we migrated all our hardware to the new space. We’re now taking a collective breath, putting the finishing touches on our offices and looking forward to the holidays!

Early in the new year, I will post that virtual tour I’ve been talking about. With our space fully decorated and complete, you’ll get a real sense of the vibe of the office and the great personalities of our team. You’ll get a peek into the inner-workings of your hosting company (this is some spy stuff, I’m serious). Stay tuned.

We are finally starting to move in to our new data center home! We’ve powered up and started the process of migrating our servers and decorating our offices. After so much anticipation, it hardly feels real! We’re all in high spirits and the move is going smoothly without any disruptions in service.

Once we’re all settled in, I’ll take you on a virtual tour of the space. Highlights will include the ironclad vault, the fishbowl conference room and the data center floor where the magic happens!

We’re really looking forward to meeting our neighbors in the bustling town of Latham. We’re also looking forward to all the delicious lunch options, just a hop away from our front door! Speaking of which, it might be time to dust off the treadmill 🙂

The suspense is killing us! We just welcomed our brand new 16,000 lb generator that will provide the 100% uptime we guarantee alongside superior performance! The installation was really something to see, with cranes and people scuttling about, and we can barely contain our excitement. Ok, so we’re not trying that hard, so sue us. We are thrilled to report that the generator installation went without a hitch and it is now snugly nestled in its new home.

Beyond the obvious benefits of the new data center (increased capacity by 12,000 servers, green-friendly efficiency, multiple high-speed fiber optic connections and fancy biometric security) we are also very excited about the user-friendliness of the space. The building, formerly a US Postal building, offers great office space, a loading dock, a beautiful (and quite large) server-room floor, and, perhaps coolest of all, a vault! The vault offers literal iron-clad security! We’ll be offering fully-managed colocation suites for those looking for true physical and virtual security.
