LATHAM, NEW YORK (September 30, 2013) – Sustainable IT solutions provider TurnKey Internet, Inc. announced today the launch of their TurnKey Desk Partner Program. As an independent partner of TurnKey Internet, reseller clients are able to earn commission off supporting the setup and sales of the brand new TurnKey Desk Virtual Office Network. The “TurnKey Desk 2.0” allows users to easily access what traditionally would be their desktop, now on a smartphone, tablet, or thin client.

“Our intention is to setup a network of independent partner reseller clients throughout the US that are equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to promote and sell the Turnkey Desk 2.0.” Tim Kirsch, Executive Vice President at TurnKey Internet stated, “We have already had some great success with this program with the limited exposure we have promoted thus far. Now that the major upgrades with the Turnkey Desk 2.0 are in place, we feel we are ready to expand our efforts utilizing a network of localized resellers.”

The TurnKey Desk can be used for companies in which hundreds of employees are able to share files and documents with each other, be it down the hall, across the country or around the globe. Files can be accessed, shared and stored securely to help make sharing documents easier and more efficient. The TurnKey Desk can be preloaded with applications useful for both individuals and businesses. Such applications include Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as any customizable business applications needed.

“One of the reasons why the virtual desktop market is expanding is because of their ability to replace aging office Desktop PC networks and save companies money,” CEO, Adam Wills said. “For example thin clients cost far less than PC’s with less moving parts and need for maintenance. Since thin clients are only being used to access the virtual desktops, there are almost no IT related costs for companies once it is setup.”

Benefits of Colocation – How it Can Help Your Business   no comments

Posted at Sep 20, 2013 @ 1:05pm Web hosting

Collage2Colocation is a hosting service offered by major data centers that provides companies a place to host their servers and other IT hardware in a high-tech facility. Whether it’s a small company that doesn’t want to hire an entire tech team, a large company that wants the stability of a data center, or a company somewhere in between, “colocation” is beginning to catch the attention of all types of businesses!

Here’s some semi- in-depth benefits for your reading pleasure!

GROWTH CAPACITY

In a typical office IT environment, if a company quickly needs to increase bandwidth or add physical space to the office, they could wait weeks or months. When their infrastructure is located in a colocation facility, they can turn up huge amounts of bandwidth within minutes or hours. Bandwidth capacity that can be more than 10,000 times that of a typical office cable Internet connection is readily available!

Adding more servers? Bring ‘em in!

MAXIMIZED UPTIME

Business can be 24×7. Being down for minutes or an hour can spell disaster. Imagine an organization’s IT infrastructure down for a day or a week while the power’s down due to a storm.  This disrupts potential clients from accessing their servers! In a colocation facility, IT infrastructure is housed in a redundant, high-speed Internet-connected facility, with continuous power provided by industrial UPS battery systems and on-site diesel generators for emergency backups.

winterWe are in Upstate New York, so we know a little about harsh winter storms and how to get through them securely!

COST SAVINGS

Businesses can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, to have the same up-time capabilities of the enterprise grade power and cooling systems at their own office. Fiber optic lines, connecting to major internet hubs across the world are not purchased for pennies either!  Add in redundancy to their office, and businesses are paying tens of thousands of dollars a year, where in a colocation facility, in might only cost $100 a month.

AngledWiresWe just added fiber optics to 60 Hudson in New York City and have extended our footprint drastically!

SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE

With colocation, businesses can get the confidence knowing that the facility may be secured with video cameras, 24×7 on-site staff, physical barrier access to the computers, as well as biometric scanning at all access points and more!  Some facilities are even SSAE 16 certified (LIKE OURS!). Certain businesses even require a SSAE 16 certification. Here, they can colocate their equipment and benefit from the SSAE 16 compliance already in place to avoid costly and time-consuming auditing of your own in-office facility.

leafeThis is our office plant, Leif Erikson! He protects the data center with his shield and sword… along with all our actual security measures!

PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION

With Colocation, businesses own their equipment – the data center has physical security covered. Since they own the equipment, only their staff has access to the data. Unlike typical web hosting situations, where their data may me stored on a shared server, they will be the only ones with access to their data. The company can control privacy policies and allow access to certain people.

So there you have it! A quick guide to why colocation can rock your socks.

[Press Release] – TurnKey Internet, Inc. expands footprint to New York City   no comments

cranedayLATHAM, NEW YORK (September 18, 2013) – Sustainable IT solutions provider TurnKey Internet, Inc. announced today the completion of their fiber optic interconnection to New York City’s global communication hub, 60 Hudson. The addition of the new, direct fiber optic connection, allows TurnKey Internet to enhance their network redundancy and to further expand their high-speed connections worldwide. TurnKey Internet’s SSAE-16 certified data center, located in New York’s Tech Valley, gives the green IT solutions company increased connection to clients across the country and around the globe.

“By placing direct fiber-optic connectivity to 60 Hudson from our Latham, New York data center, we have expanded both our capacity and redundancy that we provide for our customers.” TurnKey Internet’s CEO, Adam Wills, said. “With the expansion of our data center earlier last month, we have had increased demands and requests for additional network capacity. Whether they are in the stock-trading industry, the ecommerce industry, or if they work with customers around the world, this expansion of our footprint will guarantee our clients the highest performance available.”

60 Hudson, located in lower Manhattan, New York, has been the center of telecommunications across the globe for over 80 years. Opened in the 1930’s, 60 Hudson has since become one of the primary Internet traffic hubs around the world and has expanded into a colocation center, now housing over 100 companies. TurnKey Internet’s new direct fiber optic access to this location allows for increased connectivity, speed and redundancy to amplify their global network presence.

Featured Client – Darren Cain   no comments

Posted at Sep 17, 2013 @ 3:15pm customer service,green,News

TKSpotlight_CotM_DarrenCainLast month, we introduced our first “Featured Client”, Nick. If you didn’t get to check that out, Nick runs a Web/WordPress Development Studio (called W5 Web Designs) that specializes in small to medium-sized business site development. Here at TurnKey, we appreciate each and every one of you TurnKey Turkey’s (hmm… that’s catchy)!  To show our appreciation, we like to highlight a client and give our friends in the World Wide Web a little background on what they do.  Nick was nice enough to give us a TON of info about his business, how he’s enjoys being with TurnKey, and even sent in a great photo of his family!

This time around we have our mate Darren who is from across the pond. And without further ado, here is a little info on our new Featured Client!

Darren is the founder and CEO at Torpix Network in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. While studying Media at college, he found a passion to work with computers and eventually became a computer technician in the UK. Four years ago, Darren began Torpix Network and offered IT services as a hobby. Since then, Torpix has turned into an active business.

Darren began as a reseller with TurnKey and has, within two years, upgraded to running his company on dedicated servers from our green data center in Latham, New York. “TurnKey has an excellent, true, 100% uptime,” Darren said. “They seem to never have any downtime, and if there has been, I’ve never noticed. When there is an issue either if it was my fault or a network issue, they go above and beyond the call of duty to resolve it, even though my services with them are self-managed.”

Aww shucks! Thanks, Darren.

If you want to learn more about Torpix Network, go check them out! If you want to be the next Featured Client, email dyoungs@turnkeyinternet.net or let us know on our Facebook or Twitter.

As the World Turn(Key)s   no comments

Posted at Sep 11, 2013 @ 4:27pm Web hosting

Jareddd

Hey there!

In case you don’t recognize me, I’m Jared – the long-standing (over a year) intern at TurnKey Internet.   You may be asking yourself “How has he been an intern for more than a year at this crazy cool place?” and the answer is that school happened.  I recently graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and I started this internship a year ago as a part of my graduation requirements.  Since the start I have been getting some hours in on school breaks and whatnot, working towards my degree in New Media Interactive Development.

So what do I do here at “The Turns?” (it’s a little thing I call the company… in my head.  Actually I made that up just now as I was writing…  this is why they don’t let me touch the copywriting.  That, and because my first attempt at writing this blog turned into a creative writing piece detailing a false backstory for myself set in a distant galaxy).  Anyway, I do tons of stuff!  Some of you may have had the undisputed pleasure of talking to me on the phone, but most importantly I’m heavily involved in the graphic design projects here.  You can see some of my work proudly displayed on our Facebook page, in your mail (physical), in your mail (digital), around the office, in our Vines, and well just about anywhere in our digital domain.  I’m also the person currently responsible for transforming Dylan’s Neanderthal gibberish into legible content, so you’re all welcome for that.

In other news, great things are on the horizon for The Turns, and here are some things you should keep a look-out for:

High Speed Stock Trader Desktop: Manage your stocks with the beauty and speed of the top-of-the-line stock programs rolled into one.

– Holiday Specials:  The holidays will hit before you know it.  Keep a close eye on your inboxes!

The TurnKey Pod Project:  We’ll be revealing more footage and content from the addition of our newest pod.

That’s all I have for you today!  Maybe we’ll see each other again soon, TK Bloggerites.

Jared

Winning the Storage War   no comments

StorageWarArticle_Blog

Our CEO and President, Adam Wills, was recently featured in this month’s Capital Magazine! Adam discussed the beginnings of TurnKey Internet and how with a small team here at our green data center, we’ve been able to work with over 13,000 clients in over 100 different countries. Starting in 1999, TurnKey has gone through multiple phases to reach where we are today. And if you have been keeping up with us here, on Facebook, or on Twitter, you will know that we show no signs of slowing down!

“High-speed Internet back in the early to mid-2000’s wasn’t really ubiquitous everywhere, and it’s not what what we understand what it is today. Especially with the concept of mobile-devices that we have now. The iPhones, and a few years later the Droid, had been invented, meaning that people could communicate anywhere on the go. They needed a centralized place, and they needed a centralized communication channel and have that data stored. We saw the opportunity on the horizon.”

Check out the rest of the article here to read what else Adam had to say!
